Building a Non-profit Infrastructure - NL #5

November 6, 2024

Here's what's happening at Ski Club Uganda.

We're back, and adjusting to normal life (as in not wearing rubber boots everywhere!).

But we haven't given up on this project, ... in fact quite the opposite (check out the new swanky email!)

Since coming back, we're busy building the infrastructure for Ski Club Uganda.

What we've already accomplished:

  • created a Google WorkSpace account, with a Google Drive for all our media

  • created a LinkedIn Profile

  • created a Wikipedia Page!! (Thank you, Pauli! ...Also, maybe it is only viewable in Europe?)

Klemen and I are also getting our documents in order for Batenga and Ganzi, so they can start pushing for Klemen's Ugandan citizenship so he can ski in the 2026 Olympics.

Next week, Lukka and I are meeting with Middlebury Environmental Studies professor Jessica L'Roe to talk about opportunities for students to go to Uganda next summer for the tree planting project.

What's the thought process?
We need to make Ski Club Uganda official, so that when we push for fundraising, international media attention, and Klemen's Uganda citizenship, the world finds a real organization.

So what's next?

  • Working on the 501c3 application.

  • Moving the website away from Wix to skiclubuganda.org.

  • Posting videos from the trip on our social media.

  • Designing the tree-planting project.

How can you help?
We need help with our 501c3 application!
If anybody has experience submitting one of these before and can help answer questions, or knows a lawyer who they can ask to consult with us, this would be really helpful!

Morgan and I are doing our best, but have questions about what to say (and NOT SAY) regarding operating in foreign countries.. etc.

If you can help here, please reach out!

Besides that, folks, we're putting in some 'elbow grease' as Morgan put it... so that we can make this work.

Stay tuned!
